Alloy wheels

My new m/home has steel wheels with detachable wheel trims. I’d like to buy alloys to replace them but I’m balking a little at the expense. I believe they will weigh the same, so apart from aesthetics, what advantages (if any) do alloys have over steel wheels?

If they weigh the same, then there are no benefits other than aesthetics although retailers will try and tell you differently. You have to ensure that you buy alloys that will cope with the motorhome's weight.

Alloys are hard work keeping clean. To remain cool looking [and they do], they may need powder coating in about 5 years. I've just had mine done though it was tempting to replace them with steel wheels.

My experience of the last 5 years is, "Save your money."
