Structure wheel is almost indistinguishable from an actual alloy

Vectra VXR boosts hot Vauxhall range

240bhp Astra VXR arrives June

Vauxhall has come up with a solution for all drivers who are continually frustrated by having to pay hundreds to replace alloy wheels damaged during unfortunate encounters with the kerb. Called the Structure wheel, it is a styled steel wheel with a close-fitting plastic cover that costs just £16 to replace if damaged. The Structure is fitted as standard equipment to all new Vectra Exclusiv models.

Beneath the cover is a five-spoke steel wheel, and unlike most clip-on hubcaps the cover is held in place by the wheel's bolts to prevent it coming loose when the car is in motion. Vauxhall claims that the wheel is little heavier than its equivalent 16-inch alloy variant to ensure that the car's dynamics are not affected.

Hi Samanosoke

That's very interesting. Although I drive a Ford - it's too late for me - had a terrible encounter with a steep sharp curb whilst on hols. I'm gutted. You should see the damage I have done to one of the front alloys on my vehicle. If I have the alloy replaced, it will cost around

I had the wheels on my wifes clio repaired last year as they had been in regular contact with the kerb, a company came to our house and repaired both wheels for 80 pounds, the wheels where as good as new when finnished. the chap said if more people wanted theire wheels doing at the same time then the price came down considerably. much better option than buying new wheels. you can also have them dipped in new laquer to get a much deeper shine, its about 50 pounds per wheel.
