Hi Alistair.

I would agree with Dave. Try some more trips closer to home, before heading to France.

We headed off on a long trip when we got our first caravan.

Although not going abroad, we had booked into 8 sites around scotland, seemed like a good idea at the time, but we had to cut down the tour, half way through.

Don't do what we did and over do it, and give yourself time to enjoy your holiday!

Cheers

Hello fellow Sheffielders!

We went to the Grange CC Site in Durham for our first caravan outing in October. The site is very nice and it's an easy tow from Sheffield as it's straight up the A1. The surrounding area is lovely but Rob is a bit biased about the North East as he's a Newcastle United fan so he was able to make a pilgrimage to St James' Park while we were there! we'll definately go there again.

We also enjoy the council-run site at Filey Brigg which is in a great location on the cliffs and you can just leave the car parked up and walk everywhere. The facilities are a bit dated although one toilet block has been renovated recently but the location makes up for this.

Hi

What about Beechwood Grange cc at York, again easy to get to, up the A1 or M1, nice site, not far from A64. Park and Ride not far away to get into centre of York, also supermasrkets etc near Park and ride, you have Barrons caravan dealer further up on the A64 if you need cc supplies.

Hope this helps

Hi

How about the Losehill Caravan Club site at Castleton, not far from Sheffield if you have any problems with your van, and you can walk into Castleton from the site. It is popular so book early.
