Hi all, it seems pertinent to introduce myself here.
I'm the proud owner of a Eccles Elite Opal caravan, I've had it for about 10 years but the last 5 its been in storage and unused. I've just taken it out of mothballs and done an overhaul. We've checked tyres, electrics, gas etc and been out for a spin. I even found a box of matches in the cutlery drawer that still lit! Not bad for a 1990 van :) She's a bit tatty but still very comfy and I'm looking forward to getting out and about again.
Our "maiden voyage" at the weekend went well but I need a new leisure battery.... (I've piggybacked a topic elsewhere here to ask for advice) I'm astonished (and delighted) that after all this time a 23 yr old van is still working properly!

Welcome to the Forum Goldie

Enjoy your forthcoming trip.

Make sure your tyres are fully serviceable.
On a caravan the age of tyres is critical even though there may be plenty of tread left. I suspect your tyres may well be past their sell by date and may need replacing before venturing out on the road.

Good luck.

Hi Goldie, welcome to the forum and back to vanning. Its great that your van is still going strong. Although DD said it twice, I would repeat it again; check the side walls of your tyres and the date on them; probably will need replacing. Better to be safe than sorry.
