I blame the Private Parking Companies for this scam doing the rounds. Previously they had people patrolling to hand out the PCN invoice, but now they rely on ANPR so scammers can target these car parks. If you do not pay immediately, the PPC will send a reminder, but the scammer probably will not have access to address information.

I was wrong, it's not a "pay wall" its if you don't want adverts you have to pay to read, OR read with personalised adverts, which implies that they collect and process personalised information and use it. You have no option to change preferences until after they have already collected your details, and by which time your details have been magically passed to far too many other organisations, who claim to have a legitimate interest.

Why do so many organisations think they have a legitimate interest in me? Most I have never heard of of yet alone had any dealings with.

I think the Government needs to reconsider its cookies legislation and rather than make it opt out, make it opt in.

Yes. You can add them to Firefox (my browser); Chrome; Edge and probably most of the rest.

Sometimes, but not often, they may cause a problem so you can just pause them or have a whitelist of sites that you allow ads etc.
