When you go to view the caravan go into the house of the seller.
They may ask you to view the caravan at a storage facillity so you need to be sure of where they live.
On each window of the caravan you will find the same number etched into the surfaces. If this number differs, is missing or has in any way been interfered with walk away and accept no excuses.
The number is the CRiS number and is unique to the caravan.
For a modest fee it is possible to find out the address of the owner of the caravan, whether there has been any major repairs and if there is outstanding finance or if the carvan has been stolen. It is similar to a motor vehicle HPI check.
When you enter the caravan use your nose, check for damp or musty smells. If the fire is on ask yourself why.
Look into the cupboards, especially at the front and rear corners and don't be afraid to lift or take off upholstery to check for damp, again look right into the corners.
Check the back wall where the roof and floor join the walls and look into cupboards etc. It might be an idea to take a good torch with you.
Have a look at the carpets to see if they have been lifted or replaced and walk all over the floor looking for signs of springiness and listening for creaks.
These could point to floor delamination.
Look at the tyres, check that the electric and gas is working as well as the fridge.
If the seller says that everything works and that there is no damp get him to put it in writing if possible, after all why wouldn't he?
I'm sure that you will read many other tips, good luck
