Any computer people out there?

In the last few days, when I logon to my computer I get a message box reading 'The system could not find the environment that was entered' (I have only entered my log in name) It disappears when I press the OK button given and everything runs as normal.
1. How do I get rid of it?
2. Do I need to do anything?
3. Should I be worried?
I have made a back up disc just in case!

Did the error message read "The system could not find the environment option that was entered" ?
I take it that you are running a version of Windows Vista.
The message could mean several things, have you made any changes to your computer set up recently?
Before you do anything too drastic it might be best if you seek some advice from those who are well versed in these matters. Tech Republic might be able to offer free advice as will Microsoft Answers This message has been written about on both forums but remember that your own message might not be caused by the same things as others who have written in so make sure that you ask about the issue as it applies in your case.

If you have XP. Vista or Windows 7 operating system. Go to "System Restore" and choose a restore date from before you started to get the message. Then select run Restore! You do not lose anything using 'system restore' but it should clear the problem.
The message has been associated with Windows "One Care" anti virus software and other issues, If your pc has 'OneCare' (no longer available) anti virus, You should remove it and replace it with Microsoft "Security Essentials" which is a free anti virus down load from MS. Or use another AV product.
If by chance you had 'One Care' and installed another AV program when MS withdrew 'One Care' make sure you have removed One Care completely. The message could be caused by a variety of other issues but system restore will with luck stop the problem.
