Aquaroll and Waterpump

Hi

My wife and I have returned to caravanning after a gap of 5 years. Teenage children wanting privacy, real beds and creature comforts made us look elsewhere for holidays :)

We have just collected a 2004 Lunar Zenith 5 and are impressed how much more spacious and comfortable our new van appears. Due to not being used and brambles forcing their way under the rear window our old (1986) Ace Ambassador Ghia is really only of use as a chicken shed. Trying to find somewhere to dispose of it.

I have removed everything that wasn't nailed down and that included our Aquaroll Water carrier. The problem I have is that the water pump on the Lunar (Truma Crystal Maxi Pump) will not fit through the opening on our Aquaroll (30 litre I think, no side opening).

Can someone tell me if the openings on the larger Aquarolls are wider to accommodate the pump

Many Thanks

Rick

Some people, my brother included have converted the older smaller cap Aquarolls by fitting it with a Marley screwed end pipe fitting.

I cant remember the details of the part number but a browse in a builders merchants shop might come up with something suitable.

What was used was a flanged item with its own screw cap; the flange being glued and screwed to the Aquaroll after cutting away the existing filler.

I have seen that done but never managed to find a stockist of the part myself

I use my 25+ year old aquaroll for waste water as the hole is too narrow for modern pumps

It doesn't get mixed up with the fresh water one because the hole is too small for the pump!!!

It only requires one handle to be carried and takes up less room than some waste water containers

I carry the fresh water aquaroll to the emptying point/water point and wheel the full waste water one

After emptying and filling the fresh water the handle is swapped over etc

I'm interested in doing this conversion as I have a 29l aquaroll that I have used together with my 40l when we're on long stay sites. Now we've changed vans I cant use the 29l. Has anyone got experience of doing this or do you know which parts to get & where from?

thanks

Don

Thanks for the replies.

I am interested in maybe converting the old Aquaroll rather than just adding it to the ever growing pile of redundant items in the loft or garages (a constant source of bewilderment to my wife why I will never throw anything away)
