Hi Rob...we went a couple of years ago and there are loads of sites in the area and going at that time of the year I wouldn't think you'd have a problem just going. Be careful if you follow the river though the road can get a bit tight, especially around the Pont du Arch. Have a look at http://www.rcn-campings.fr/labastideenardeche/fr/index.htm

or http://www.camping-soleil-vivarais.fr/

A word of warning though...the pitches can be very tight on some of these sites as its a very popular area.

My wife and I stayed on camping Mondial in Vallon Pont d'Arc. Site is on river with direct access, close to local town, five miles from Pont d'Arc. Very clean facilities, nice restaurant and takeaway which were still open in late September and good size swimming pool. We booked holiday through Select Sites in Abergavenny so benefitted from savings on ferry and the site takes Tour as You Please vouchers in off season so you win all ways.

There are lots of sites near Mondial so you can take your pick at the time of year you are going.

The winding roads on the high cliffs of the Ardeche are spectacular but don't venture along them with the caravan!!

Hope you enjoy your holiday.

See the review (below) under Les Ranchisses (just off the main part of the Ardeche. For the norther Ardeche try Domain des Plantais at Les Eyrieux. Both are highly recommended.
