Atlantic Coast

Angie - we love the atlantic coast of France having stayed near Royan (middle)and Biartiz (near Spanish border)in the past.

We found Royan great as it is a days travel from Cherboug where we cross overnight from Poole - Brittany Ferries.

Biaritz is great but one hell of a way and if you are going that far then Northern Spain is worth the extra milage. In fact we use the Plymouth Santander Ferry - again Brittany Ferries so we can easily drive into the Picos de Europa after a relaxing - if expensive 24 hour (now 18 hour) ferry journey.

This part of Spain is stunning. If you can find a copy have a look at the Sept issue of "Out & About" magazine - it has a good article on the area which I can confirm is all that they say it is and more.

Do a search on "Cantabria" and "Picos de Europa" to get an idea.

Do also have a look at the deals Brittany ferries have at certain times of the year for Villa's - we found that it was cheaper to do a package of Car & Villa rather than Car & Caravan.
