attn Kia sorento Owners

can any body help... i have a 55 xt auto (i tow 1550kg) my friend has a 2009 xs manual (he pulls 1000kg) both have the same problem, they both appear to stutter when accelerating or going up hill, its like a misfire feel but im sure its not, both of us are new to the sorento but if these two are doing it it must be something that others must feel.
i realize its not a caravan techy question so ive listed this in the towcar section aswell, its very strange, any answers please .....mmmm

Is your and your friend the same engine, as i believe Kia upgraded the sorento in 2006

I had a simular fault when under load (caravan) during my next service I mentioned it... The garage said it was the DPF or Diesel Particular Filter. Guess how to clear it ??? drive at a high speed in a lower gear for a few miles. Apprently the additional heat generated cleans the crap out and regenerates the DPF. It worked for me.

Being a Sorento owner for 8 years and have son who is ex Kia- Hyundai i will suggest the following.Some Sorentos have had the fuel tank lining flake which partially blocks the filter inside the tank.H ave tank filter removed and checked,replace fuel filter in engine compartment.If high mileage MAF sensor possibly contaminated,also check all hose clips between turbo and inlet manifold these are known to come loose.Also possibility of fuel injector.Hope this is of help.

Your problem will more than likley be the Fuel filter, The service schedule states that the filter should be changed at 40,000 miles but Kia released a bullitin that this should now be at 20,000 milesw. This happened to me and at first it felt like a misfire,then got gradually worst and even at times when accellarating cut out only to restart a couple of minutes later. It seems the older design fuel filters start to collapse internally and sending debris throught the system eventually blocking it. Cost about a £150 for the system to be cleaned out and a revised filter to be fitted.

Is it also possible for the intercooler hose to become delaminated inside and stifling the flow? I seem to recall Land Rover had this problem, but I'm unsure if the Sorento has suffered in the same way?
