OOH YES!! We use the the shampoo and wax cleaner and all other in this line. Our son uses it on his Honda Fireblade too. When I had my 2 BMW CONVERTIBLES Autoglym was the recommended product used by the BMW dealership. My husband uses it on the Jeep and the Caravan.

Very HAPPY TO RECOMEND.

I would save your money and buy a good quality wax polish ie Autoglyms on the shelf ones and do it yourself, polish the car within weeks of your purchase.

Hi Robin,

I did a sales course years ago and one of the things we were expected to do was push the options and extras like car mats and yes upholstery protection and "paint protector" it was the icing on the cake for the salesman's bonus and the dealer margin.

Does it work? Well the glossy advertising says so but after all these years I rekon all you need for a good shine and protection from the weather and traffic polution is a once a week wash with a good quality car shampoo and maybe twice ayear for the van with a propriety shampoo specifically formulated to get the dreaded black stains off.

I do lovingly polish my classic car though but have found that Autoglym is not the best, it is hard work to apply and the results are frankly only average.

What do I use? Now that would be telling!

Waste of money.

Had the paint treatment etc. Found it reacted with the fall ash from the factory i worked at. Had a few dark blemises which i could not remove.

Wash the car with a good car wash, wax once or twice a year, is all you need.

Its a money earner.

After washing the car (and caravan) using a good quality car shampoo I use Meguires polish and wax.The polish removes any film on the bodywork and then a separate coat of wax protects it.I found that Autoglym leaves a dusty residue and Meguires doesn't.

OK just for you and don't tell anyone else, it's Turtlewax Colour Magic Plus. I first discovered it on a Red Jag and have since used it on all my classics, although I have to say they have all been Red with the exception of a white Austin Healey.

Colour pigment is mixed in with in the polish and the result when applied to a non metalic finish is demonstrably better with deeper gloss and colour enhancement. I have tried all the major brands and it just can't be beaten.

I have never tried it on the modern water based laquered finishes but as I say I never polish my everyday cars , just wash shampoo them.

Try it on your Mazda and be amazed.

Hi,

Thanks for all of your comments. I don't mind washing and polishing my cars, in fact some would say (wife),I'm obsessed.

May as well save my money.

Hi,

I bought my latest car on a contract deal over three years which will allow me to either buy the car at the end of the term or give it back to the dealer. As a result, it was obligatory to have a paint protection scheme. But quite frankly, after four months I can see no advantage whatsoever - the car is little different paint wise/wash wise to all my previous cars. It only looks good after a good shampoo - like any other car!

What I would like to know, has any one ever found a windscreen cleaner/polish that doesn't leave trailing wiper smearing? I haven't, and I have tried Autoglym glass cleaner, RainX, the lot (they all smear despite the claims). I only dare use car shampoo and hot water, but grease can still be a problem. Any better ideas??

Sounds like you have wax on your screen, use a solvent cleaner on a rag plus clean the wiper blades

colin, clean your windscreen and wiperblades with methylated spirit. then use your glass polish. i like to use rain x, but meths first, then rain x glass cleaner, then rain x repellent.

Hi Dusty Dog

The Meguiars cleaning products are in two separate containers, one polish and one wax and are the Deep Crystal range.(dark red containers)

More than twice to do the job properly DD

The car is easy because its a swb model but the caravan is a major task.

I have to wash the caravan down, apply shampoo, wash that off and dry the caravan with a microfibre cloth and then polish, rub off, wax and buff. It keeps me out of the way of Herself who brings cups of tea out to me and is under the impression that I'm working really hard so therefore must be let off the leash for a well deserved pint or three later in the evening.

To be honest the Meguiars is easy to apply and shines up really well.

When I bought my car, the dealer told me that it had been ' A Glazed' and that he would have to add

I always use the flash car system. Not made anymore but still available on ebay.

Wash the car or caravan, then rinse off with the flash filter, no need to chamois, saves hours!!

its a con you dont need it (ex main dealer mechanic used to see this stuff applied by real muppets who had no idea of what they were doing so the product had no chance even if it did work)

but come on i cant be the only one who thinks polishing your car twice a year is enough???

maybe im a bit anal but my car will get a good polish at least once a month (washed weekly)

then every 4th month or so i will wash it then clay the paint to remove contaminants then give it a good paint cleanse followed by 2 layers of good polish topped off with a protective wax!!!

and thats just the paint lol

Hi Rob;Polishing your car every month is a complete waste of time and money it does not need it, also everytime you polish your car it take a fraction of the layer of paint off which does not do the body work any good
