My Bailey unicorn Valencia S1 regulator is over 10 years old, I am going to change it myself with automatic changeover regulator https://ebay.us/m/M4loxR. Has anyone use it? Does it work properly?

Never done that but Cavagna are a well respected brand, and I’ve used their kit on the van and at home.

Sounds good
It would enable one to empty both gas bottles without noticing until of course it was too late🤔
Yes, auto changeover regulators do require regular checking of the colour displays and action when it changes - got the T-shirt!

I still reckon its better to have a manual changeover. That way you know when the first cylinder has run out, so you can schedule a replacement into the few following days. Otherwise you just know what will happen.
It's not as if a manual changeover is a difficult time consuming task is it?

When I inherited an auto changeover after the first time I was caught out I used to leave the second bottle off until the first had run out, then I switched it on. Made sure it never happened again.

I thought the Valencia came with an auto valve, I feel sure mine did. I have now had 2 vans with them and I did not use them for the same reason as Mr Plodd and others have said.

Which tends to rather negate the whole ethos of an "automatic" changeover doesnt it ?

Which is why I would never fit one, those I have had came with the boats.
However it is easier to just turn a valve on when the gas has run out and you need to make your morning cuppa than to mess around with a spanner changing bottles.

We had the auto one but used it in manual mode. As said no fun running out of gas on both bottles because you were not aware one was already empty.

Turn one off.
Buying two new cylinders in one go will hurt🙀

Manual for me too.

No surprises when they both run out.

You know for sure when one bottle has emptied, so you can then reorder straight away.
We use so little gas that we don't need to get a refill as soon as one runs out, in practice we wait until the end of the season

Does the 10 kgs fit in the gas locker?

Is it really worth the cost, two calor gas cylinders, one empty in the car one in the caravan. It's not as if your touring much anymore.
But as you say Each to there own.

My latest caravan got a automatic changeover i think they are both on .
It depends on the description it the manufacturer calls it a change over valve, both cylinders need to be turned ON for the valve to work. It should only take gas from the primary or master cylinder until the cylinder is empty, when the valve does what its name suggests it switches to the secondary cylinder automatically. If it is properly designed it should allow the empty cylinder to be replaced without disrupting the flow of gas to the installation. BUT dont assume that to be the case always check the function and safe operation of such valves with the manufacturers instructions.

I can’t get any official information of regulator outlet size, then measured it 10 mm on the pipe, I think this is correct size for my

Bailey Valencia s1. Asked seller if I can use one bottle and another one connected with pigtail with adapter off, he said no but gas cap for safety. I don’t see difference from turning off one bottle. The automatic one could be useful in winter when one of them runs out at midnight, you don’t need to change bottle.
