Not sure if this has been asked before. All other forums I belong to allow you to save your log in so that when you revisit there is no need to log back in. Usually this is done by saving the front page of the forum once logged in so when you go back into the forum the next day you are already logged in. I did experiment by saving the page but it only worked until I closed down the computer, the following day I needed to log in again. Not sure how easy this would be for you.

This Forum uses use a "WYSIWIG" forum engine(what you see is what you get)

so NO you can not have auto log in.

I think the recent speed increase is due to a techie throwing another lump of wood on the fire to generate more steam for the servers.

The forum is so basic I beleive it was designed before Bill Gates or the internet was born.

Amateur run forums and interest group forums with little funding use much more advanced forum engines, including rob_jax's Eriba Forum.

One has to pity the journo's aT the mag, I think Haynet towers is a pre 39-45 war wooden caravan with an army suplus tent made into a two sided awning to accomodate the editors office!

No doubt Micheal Hesletine is down to his last brass razoo and claiming benefit from an arch way under Chisswick Flyover as the group struggles for funds and still can't afford a Forum upgrade.

You can sort of have auto log-in, I have started to use firefox as one of my web browsers and you can save your log-in details, so when you reply to topic the email address and password are already filled in, so all you have to do is press the sign in button.

In some respects I am quite happy that the Forum has retained its basic format. I sometimes think some of the more complex ones have too many 'bells and whistles' and the actual content gets blurred. These ones are easy to read and respond to. I admit I would like the facility of inserting link addresses so a simple click gets you to the page given, but it is a small matter really. Copy and paste will do the job just as well.

I would also suggest the simplicity, if you wish to call it that, may be actually encouraging the number of contributors that participate. Study of the content of some of the posts, indicates that they may not be regular Forum addicts, so that is good news.

Plans are in the discussion stage (what was that about steam?) for the format of this forum in the future. In the meantime we are stuck with the quill pens I'm afraid.
