Available height on Norfolk Lines?

Hi all;

I booked Dover to Dunkerque with Norfolk Lines this year after having read previous threads praising this service. Hopefully someone can reassure me that there will be sufficient height for my 'van without the need to remove the Status's spike?

I assumed when booking that caravans would share the freight deck - is this correct please?

Thanks in anticipation.

Enjoy your holidays.

My initial reaction was "if you're not as tall as a lorry then you'll be fine". Norfolk Line is primarily a freight ferry, and I cannot recall any potential height restriction. I can't remember whether they have a mezzanine (drop-down) deck to increase car capacity at peak times. If so, then normal caravans don't usually fit on the lower level, and can't use the upper.

The NL website says:

Q. Can I have a roof box or bicycles attached to my car?

A. We do not have any problems if the combined height of the vehicle does not exceed 2.4 meters and the length of 5 meters. For vehicles over this height, please contact the call centre on 0870 870 10 20.

We have been useing Norfolk Line now for many years with a 3m+ motorcaravan and now with a caravan. There has never been a problem as you do not go with the cars but with freight and panel vans, so no problem they sort it out when you book in .

Guys,

Thanks very much for your helpful input; in view of these I shall assume the 2.4m relates to the car deck height, and that I will be ok for the caravan / freight area.

Lol, thanks for the link to the informative Caravan Channel item.

Thanks again, and enjoy your holidays.
