Avoiding grounding caravan on driveway

We put our new caravan (4.5m long single axle) onto our driveway today with the help of a Powrtouch Evolution motormover. Our driveway is up a kerb and fairly steep before it flattens out. Although we managed to get the caravan onto the driveway (hitch first) there was a scary moment the back of the van looked close to hitting the road as the jockey wheel made its progress up the steepest part of the drive. This might sound daft but can you gain extra clearance at the back by lowering the jockey wheel as it climbs the drive? I am aware we did make it up the driveway but for my own nerves I'd feel better if we could get a few inces more between the bottom of the van and the road. Either that or is reversing the van end first a better option?

Yes, it's ok to lower the jockey wheel as long as it doesn't foul any part of the A frame when you are moving the caravan
