Avoiding Water Marks on the side of vans

Hi All,

Being still relatively new to caravanning I am after a little advice on avoiding the stuborn black marks which kept appearing on my last van. Having now bought a new van I want to start the way I mean to go on so any advice would be really appreciated.

One thing I have read somewhere is running some awning tape through the awning rail to create a lip for the water to run away from the sides. If anyone has tried this I would love to hear your experiences

Thanks all

The black comes from two sources- dust on the roof running off with rain and a compound coming out of the rubber round windows. Clean the van then put a good car polish on. Don't forget the roof. The black marks will wipe off then. If they don't it needs repolishing. Take care with the polish- don't use anything abrasive as the paint coat is very thin.

Yes - it works. Stays in place while travelling too.
It also helps if you store the van sloping back a little, to stop ponding and dust collection on the roof.

dont waste your money any spray polish like mr shean or cheapo brand spray polish will remove marks as quick as you can wipe it of.
