Avondale Dart table trouble!!!

I have an Avondale Dart 556/6 2003 and the table on the side dinette has come away from the wall we have tried to glue and screw it back on with some really strong glue and the same screws but it doesnt hold, and not too sure whether or not we can use larger screws as were not sure of the distance between the interior wall and the exterior wall. Can we get away with doing this ourselves or is it going to be a dealer job, has anyone got any ideas??

We had exactly the same problem on our avondale dart 556/6 2005 model we took it to the dealer we bought it from to get it done under the warranty and they just put some thin double sided tape on it and screwed it back in the same holes so as soon as we got it back it came off again.So this time i did it myself what i did was to use some epoxy glue like araldite the ones in the two tubes you mix together and spread this along the piece of plastic that screws to the wall and stuck this in place held there with some masking tape slightly to the side of the original screw holes while i rescrewed the original screws into new holes which i had drilled using a small drill and then removed the masking tape.This has never come off since and i have a very active 5year old and a very clumsy 13year old.I hope this helps let us know how you get on.

sandi, we have had a few niggles with it but nothing major. it has been service this year but nothing found. its going soon and will will be trading it in. we have had it from new since oct 2005 we have never used the shower and my eldest refuses to use the top bunk. i wish we had bough a fixed bed now but i will be soon.

i would have another avondale.

The old screws have probably been torn out of the wood, widening the holes and have nothing to grip onto any more.

Take one of those screws with you to B&Q (or Homebase, etc) and buy the same length screw - but the next size (or two) up in width - if you compare the original with those in the store and it looks like a 3mm screw - buy a small pack of 4mm or 5mm width screws.

These fatter screws will grip in the enlarged hole in the wood frame.

Note: You may need to gently enlarge the original screw holes in the table support to let the fatter screws pass through.

Note: You may want to dip the original screws in wood filler (B&Q) and try to pack that into the wood - this will set into new "wood" and strengthen the wood - just before you use the new fat screws

Note: Using a two-part Epoxy adhesive will help hold the table support to the wall boarding, but that's not a total solution to the problem.

hi rob, i understand what you are staying. we didnt really have

much choice we was on holiday when it happened. but as my craig says it lasted another 14 months after he fixed it and it isnt going anywhere (the table that is), but the van yes will be going as soon as we have deceided what we are having.
