Avondale Door Seal

We have a 2007 Avondale 380/2 Dart caravan and the door seal is causing problems. Several attempted repairs by the dealer we use have not solved the problem. A new seal of the correct profile is required.

The door is unusual as the inside edge has a curve which pushes into the seal as the door closes. This is unlike most doors I've seen that have a flat surface that pushes onto the seal.

I've found that a Lunar Zenith 5 GTS caravan of the same year has an identical door.

The dealers and manufacturers aren't helpful and Avondale went out of business.

Any suggestions of a seal supplier will be appreciated. I don't want to use second hand seals if possible.

I am sure the Avondale has a Hartnal door which should be the same as several other makes. I would in the circumstances try the Lunar seal if the price is low enough to justify the risk. You might also try the Owners Club who might help.

Unfortunately the last time our usual repairer worked on the door they replaced the seal with the incorrect type. So I no longer have the original to use as a pattern. The seal they have used is too thick and makes the door difficult to close unless it is slammed.

The door type is not standard and so far I've only seen it on one model of another make of caravan - a Lunar. Lunar won't deal directly with the public and the Lunar service agents I've contacted won't do any research. They want a sample!
