Avondale - rise again

The following link from the Birmingham Mail,

http://www.birminghammail.net/news/birmingham-news/2008/09/25/collapsed-firm-avondale-coachcraft-back-on-move-97319-21898966/
states that Avondale have re-started manufacturing, under the Administrators PriceWaterhouse Coopers. This surely has to be good news for existing Avondale owners, and those who liked the make. It will also add much needed competition back into a shrinking market of caravan manufacturers.

All they need to do is come up with a revolutionary construction method - and they'll sell like hot cakes.

Hi. Brian maybe I have took it wrong, but your reply sounds very sarky, surely the rise of another troubled caravan company should be welcomed not treated with sarcasm give it a chance.

I have never owned an avondale, but I am sure there are may fans of the company and they will be pleased with Val's news.

kind regards.

Ray

The news story is dated 25/09/08 when Avondale had 'half built' caravans and I don't think Avondale will start production again.

Were these caravans sold to The Caravan Company last year at a knock doen price.

I was also under the impression that Raymond James Caravans from Coventry were moving into the old Avondale factory in Atherstone in December this year.

Yes David they are Dec1st date set

Means we have an even longer journey to get caravan serviced

Service manager is an ex avondale employee

I live near the Avondale factory and pass it regularly and the premises are locked and the yards totally empty of vans materials etc

Surely that does not infer that Avondale are starting production again? It is amazing that the article was posted on a Caravan forum and has now done the rounds even though the article is over a year old. Goes to show the power of the Internet for spreading unfounded and unnecessary rumours and not only about caravans

Plotter me old mate great to see you back with us - thought you had hibernated for the winter. How are you and the family keeping these days, especially your grandchild?

That'll be next april then Plotter 🙂)

As its just come back from coventry after minor repairs under insurance warranty

We will use A46/M69/A5 46 miles for us each way

Using M40/42 will be 54 miles each way

Good excuse to go to "Jacksons" of Old Arley and visit plotter

Just to confirm I had a card from Raymond James Caravans this Saturday confrirming their move .

So this is the latest news.

As I said previously Raymond James Caravans was owned by Avondale
