Awning Alterations

Has anyone had any experience of having an awning resized. If so, were you pleased with the outcome, did it chage the shape. I have a new awning which needs increasing in size by about 70cm.

Hi Lesley,

I had my awning extended last year by The Canvas Repair Centre (www.canvasrepaircentre.co.uk) and was very pleased by both the service and the quality of work. The alteration was not by as much as you are intending and I'm fairly sure that there is a recommended maximum range of alteration, something like extend by no more than two or three awning sizes but not 100% sure about this. Contact the company for confirmation.

Awning collected, altered and returned to me within a week at a reasonable cost. No deterioration in awning shape when erected and alterations not obvious to anyone looking at the awning.

lesley.....I used Trio Pair. There website is:

www.triopair.com/

They altered a 950cm awning to 1050 by adding 100cm. (50cm at each side)

What they did was to fit the 50cm panel that is shaped like a V to each side of the main awning canvas. (they use original weight materials and colour matched as well and they fitted a new awning channel...the one that runs inside the caravan awning rail.

All awning repaires do is extend or shorten the main awning canvas so you end up with the awning that tapers in at the sides from the caravan (if extending) and it tapers out, (if reducing in size) None of the panels are altered and it does not effect erecting the frame.

The upside is that the mods only cost
