Awning Bead.

Hi,
Got a problem with the awning bead on my 6 years old Isabella porch awning.
Progressively and over a long period the rubber core of the bead is working its way out of its sleeve so that each time that we erect our porch there is a longer piece of rubber core appearing at one end of the sleeve whilst at the opposite end the first 4/5 inches are empty. This has the effect that at this side of the erected awning these 4/5 inches are not fixed to the van.
I can forsee the eventual loss of tension for the roof at this point causing a real problem such as a rip in high wind.
Same thing is happening to the lower draught skirt.
Question is has anyone a solution to get the core back into the sleeve in its correct position or will it eventually ruin the awning?
Be very gratefull for any advice.......

Just been and checked mine and they have a few stitches through the 'canvas and then through the plastic core to stop it moving. If you can get hold of a sailmakers palm you could probably do the same.

Hi Paul
Have tried contacting Isabella direct, as there are very helpfully. We had a simular fault where the centre core decided to come out, they also enlarged our awning to neatly fit our new van... saved us a bundle, rather than buy a new awning. Our centre core is now securely fasterned.

For a DIY cure stitch through the rubber core at both ends - to stop it moving any further. Then at the end where there is no core, find something of a slightly smaller diameter that you can thread in to fill up the part that is missing - a piece of electrical core or similar, and stitch that in place too, to stop it moving. We had to do something similar with our awning.
