Awning carpets

Having just bought a Dorema awning ready for our summer trip to Italy, I'm wondering what the best awning carpet would be for it given that we are likely to spend most of our time on hardstandings. Grateful, as ever, for advice.

I would go for a lightweight carpet breathable or not to choice as you will be on hardstanding, but also take a large sheet of fairly heavy gauge plastic sheeting to put underneath it - especially if you go for breathable carpet. The hardstanding is likely to be gravel topped and a surprising amount of dust comes up through the carpet without the 'underlay' Plasitc does not need to be a single piece and something like the wrapping from a double mattress taken off carefully will do fine - then leave it there (responsibly) when you come home.
