We are the proud owners of a 1970 caravan. We need to get some bedroom space added and are struggling: The top of the caravan channel is not horizontal It peaks in the middle then slopes down...will this cause a problem in fitting an awning?

otherwise :

We have a poulard awning (original) and are thinking of buying a bedroom annexe and sewing an awning runner to the bedroom annexe to then attach it some how to the side of our awning. Not sure of the total dimensions of the annexe but I am clutching at straws here.

Does anyone know the answer or have a better idea?

The awning fabric should cope with the peak in the roof as awnings have to conform to the different shape of the front and rear of modern caravans and do so quite well

The bedroom annex could be attached as you suggest and the join could be made using fgure of 8 section plastic strips that are readily available from awning dealers for joining the skirt especially over the wheelarch.

Any awning supplier should be able to advise on suitable annexes and joints available

su if of any use to you for your conversion, I have one complete early 1970s Poulard awning, and somewhere I think I also have a set of poles. I'm in South wales, and if you can fetch 'em, you can have'em.
