I want to buy a heater for my awning but I'm just not sure which one to buy. Can anyone suggest one please and perhaps give me any pros and cons against different types.

Regards

We have tried various electric awning heaters in the past.

However, we currently use a Halogen Heater. This has a cut-off safety device button on the base (if the heater is accidentally knocked over the electrical supply is cut off immediately). Ideal for use with kids and dogs around!!!

The element(s), although colourful, do not set fire to anything --- even holding a piece of paper to them they don't ignite!

They are relavitely cheap. I am given to understand they are economical to run, using less than 2p per hour to run when on full power.

We always keep ours in the caravan ready for use on cooler evenings.

Used an old small fan heater for years now, never tripped any fuses on low setting. Costs nothing to run.

I agree with the halogen heaters, safety wise they are perfect, the only problem is they take up a lot of space.

I like the small Campingaz lantern, very cheap on gas, when you turn them up they light the entire awning and give good heat, i must admit to being sceptical before i bought it, wouldnt be without it now though. no good around kids though as the metal cage on top gets very hot. only to be used with supervision i guess.

You can purchase relatively small halogen heaters these days. Certainly, very safe to use even with unsupervised children or pets.
