Can anyone help regarding the fitting of my awning on my Avondale Avocet, we always struggle to get a good fit due to the reduced height of the awning rail.Anyone else had this problem? maybe shorten the awning?? etc or be able to recomend a awning thats a good fit(preferably a porch)....

Thanks Gary T

Hi Gary, we can sympathise (but not actually help...sorry, lol!).

We have the opposite problem: our two Adrias (presently a 642 twin axle, previously an Adiva) are/were taller than the British vans we have had in the past, therefore our awnings are a bit too short!

Good luck with finding a solution....

I had my awning "stretched" to fit our new, larger, van. This was achieved be adding a tapered filet at each end of the roof, in the curved area. The front of the filet tapers to zero so all the panels and frame are unaffected, but the length of the awning rail edge is increased by the combined width of the filets. It cost

got the same problem with my osprey, awning slopes upwards instead of downwards due to the height of the awning rail.its quite a job to alter as the whole of the bottom of the awning all the way round(front and sides)has to be shortened so as to drop the height of the awning, and its expensive.wev'e put up with it but it is a chore at times to get it to hang right.porch awnings made by nr make the 7ft 6 height you want for your van.

Have you thought of putting blocks or ramps under the wheels to lift up your van a few inches. Ken

You are quite right. You would have to raise both sides to level your van. My brother in law had the same problem with his awning being too big and that was the way he got round fitting the awning properly. He was lucky enough to have a Motor Mover fitted to his van so this helped emensely and made the job easy. But at least it worked. Ken
