Awning light

Hi All,
Ive done a quick search but didnt find much in the way of my question:
Ive just procured a full awning for our caravan, having only had porch awnings previously the light above the door has been sufficient, however, i suspect im going to need a light for the awning (Mrs K is keen on sitting out on an evening!)
Ideally im after an LED unit as along with their power saving properties, I like the reduced heat they generate and feel this is wise in an awning. I have both 12v and 240v capability in the awning space, and of course I would prefer if it was 'cost optimized'!
Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks
Rob

Hi Rob
We use 230v switched lamp on length of cable, we attach the cable to awning poles with cable ties 60w bulb give plenty of light.

Sproket beat me to it. - best of all words LED so its efficient and cool, provided with both 12V dc and 230Vac power leads, and a healthy light output, biggest down side is the initial cost.

Hi All.
Thanks for the replies. I have purchased something very similar to what Sproket posted, just waiting for it to turn up!
Thanks again.
Regards
Rob

Although it is a bit late now, I would advise anyone buying a LED light - be it as in this application or in a torch - to get one with a single LED, preferably a Cree LED in a torch. They provide much more light than any string of instrument LEDs.
Roughly, a LED flood gives the same light output as a halogen of about 8 times the power, so a 20W LED will give about the same light level as a 150W halogen (the 77m bulbs used in small halogen floods.)
