We plant them every year and over time as they come ripe, we eat them. This year they are coming ripe in swathes and bit faster than we can eat them. Plus they are bigger then normal. Everyone around us seem to have excess strawberries. Not sue if they freeze okay? Reminds me of the time when we had over 300 banana plants and all the bananas decided to become ripe at the same time. We couldn't even give them away. Haven't eaten banana bread since! LOL! 🤣

It’s a very good year for British grown strawberries, and they seem to have arrived in shops a bit earlier. Taste good too.

They do freeze OK but, as the other Andy says, they don't retain their firmness. However once thawed out they do mix with stewed rhubarb (which freezes just fine) very well indeed!
Either that or make strawberry jam with them. Look up the recipe for small batch jam. Vastly quicker, and easier than doing it in bulk. Needs 250g of strawberries and only takes about 20 minutes, it's lovely stuff. We buy punnets from the supermarkets when they are reduced because they are past their best.

Never thought of making strawberry jam as we hardly ever eat jam as seldom buy bread, but when we do, strawberry is one of my favourites after apricot jam.

They freeze well. spread them on a baking tray to freeze individually then tip them into a bag so that it is easier to tip out and defrost the portion you need. They go squishy when defrosted but ideal for a mixed fruit crumble or summer pudding.

Nice with Cornish clotted cream after having two Cornish pasties, wash down with Cornish Tea
Besides the price, what is the difference between Cornish cream, pasties and tea as it all tastes the same whether bought from a bakery or a supermarket?

I can't see that I specifically said the need to be in Cornwall ,🙂
No you never, but neither did I assume that you had to be in Cornwall to eat the Cornish stuff. They have now invented motor vehicles to convey goods from Cornwall all around the country. 🤣 🤣 🤣

Pasties, have to be made in Cornwall, Cornish pasties look the same but are made by Ginsters and other makers. And president Trump has put a $50%tarriff on them.
