These are availabe in most Homebase stores in their Rolson stand.
I have had one for quite a few years and agree that they are totally un suitable for banging in pegs. Have not found a use for it yet.

Parksy,
After my initial posting I tried (via edit post option) to post a link to ebay for the item, the link did not show but the 'Kunena' thingy appeared.
Sorry I cannot provide other clues as to reason.

A decent lump hammer, due to the bigger head, and standard claw hammer for removal, if the wind hasnt done that already.

Parksy,
Again the link did not show, but now you can see "No eBay APP ID défined in Kunena configuration" before the word "Parksy".
I'll leave that to you as I haven't got a clue as to why :)
Hope this is of some help.

I tried to get your E-bay link to appear via the Edit but it didn't want to play so I left it alone. Kunena make the forum software I think but it's workings are a closed book to me ;)

I'd add to Hutch's list a small flat 'wrecking bar' type tool. This will get undeer the head of a peg driven in virtually flat with the ground and allow you to lift it just far enough to get the jaws of a claw hammer started. Particularly useful where pegs have been put through carpet.
