Awning (putting one up)

Hi all, I have a new Isabella Capri with annex, I have put it up a few times, but never seem to get it quite right. Also having two young Children does not seem to help.

Has anyone ever heard of anyone who would turn up on site and put it up (obviously at a cost).

Anyone interested in earning a few bob ha ha,

i Have simular problems with my awning erections.After many attempts we have come up with the following technique.

firstly get the kids bikes out and let them have a ride about. Put our dog in the cage. Get awning out. Open can of beer.start putting up awning (at this point i start moaning and swearing and at the same time my wife starts not listening to me) we continue like this until the awning is up.

I can also confirm that this method works for things like changing a wheel or diy in the house. after many years we can now get to the swearing / not listening stage almost straight away..

I remember reading some time ago that an easy method of erecting an awning entailed using guy ropes (2) on each of the uprights as you put them up.This means that your hands are free to position the other components. I tried this method last time out and it really does make the job easy. When the canvas is up, place the centre pole in position and raise it almost all the way up, then put two guys onto the spike and tension them. This makes the poles self supporting. Repeat with the two end poles.As you raise the poles to full required height, simply slacken the guys slightly and then re-tension them.

Thanks for that Derek, I am going away tomorrow and have a full awning to put up on my own, that has helped enormously. Dogs will be in their crate and I will have to shout at myself!

I have it planned and have had a dry run with the poles alone in the garden, any bets on my success? I am used to putting up a combi on my own.

I found that colour codeing the poles with coloured insulating

tape and marking the assembly diagram to match helps.

But if you still have difficulty ,open out pole bag insert canvas

round rail ,scratch your head whilst looking at your instructions

and most important make shure you have an audience.

some fellow caravanners will take the bait and help you.

worked some years ago for me!
