Awning (Rail) Problem

We have two awnings - A Kampa Rally 390 and a Towsure Portico Porch Awning. When only away for a day or two we use the smaller one. We have recently changed our caravan and although the Kampa Awning slides into the awning rail as easily as ever, the porch awning has a visably bigger beading on it. As a result it is a real struggle to get onto the rail (even using copious amounts of lubricant!) And so takes longer to put up than the bigger awning!

Can anyone suggest a practical solution?

Hi Owen
You will have to get up a ladder & check that there is no exess sealant or anything else stuck inside the rail & if it looks ok you could try using one of these to make sure that the rail is not too tight or been damaged at some time

Hi Sprocket,
Thanks for your reply - I have a spreader, but if I use that I will have to spread the entire rail - it is not just a tight spot. The whole rail must be made to a different size than the old one, and as I said our Kampa awning is fine - just the porch awning has a bigger beading on it.
The awning rail is also white and I am worried that a spreader will take the paint / finish off the rail, which on a new van I don't want to risk.

You could contact someone like the Canvas Repair Centre and see how much a replacement awning beading would be they altered our awning and were very reasonable.
