awning rail

Hi we bought an awning for our fabulous Mayfly, but to feed and pull the awning throught the rail is quite difficult. Any suggestions as to what we could use to mak the task slightly easier, thought about vaseline or candle wax. PLEASE HELP!

Spray Mr Sheene around the rail, works a treat and a lot cheaper than the special awning rail sprays you can buy.

I use the 400ml Silicone Spray from Screwfix at

I'd be loathe to use washing up liquid. Suds and waterproofing don't go together.
