Awning troubles

We've recently bought a Elddis Crusader Superstorm, which came with a Suncamp Prestige, full size awning, and a Suncamp 390 porch awning. We got the porch awning up, no probs, very easy, but for some reason can't get the Suncamp Prestige as tight as we'd like, even with the use of an awning companion to exert more pressure, the material flaps a lot, and doesn't look tidy, any tips / thoughts as to what we may be doing wrong? my wife is making noises about changing the awning, which is only 2 years old..... help!
 
Have you tried taking the porch awning down first before putting up the main awning.lol

Sorry couldnt resist it,my only guess is that it is just not the right size as it sounds too big
