Can anyone recommend an easy to erect full size awning, (or does such a thing exist!)? My husband and I are new to caravaning this year and have previously been keen campers, however having struggled for three hours last year to erect a tent, I do not wish to encounter the same scenario.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

Our Caravan is a solaris 1.

Thanks

We have an Isabella awning and find it easy enough to erect. The side and front panels unzip from the main body of the awning so there is less bulk/weight to thread through the awning rail on the caravan. Once threaded onto the van the poles are erected starting with the front outside of the awning, and then a pole from the van to that pole. Then repeat on the middle then back poles.

Two people make the job much easier as one can hold one pole while another pole is attached to the frame.

Once the frame is all up the sides and fronts can be zipped in and the whole lot tensioned and pegged down.

One tip is to make sure the caravan awning rail is well lubricated as this makes threading the awning through much easier.

Some awnings do not have zip out sections so the whole lot has to be threaded onto the van.

Sounds easy - but after a few goes you will soon get the hang of it. Some people colour code the poles so they know where they go.

p.s. Be prepared for all the neighbours on the site to be watching you erect it!

Graeme.

Jacqui.

Just sort it out at home before you go with a trial run through.

Sort out where the frame parts go and mark the joint with coulored tape or labels so you know where the parts fit together. Lay the parts to the side of the van in the positions where they go before you start. A couple of trial runs on a quiet weekend and you'll be like pro's on site. Enjoy
