B & Q Generators

There was a post on here recently about cheap generators at B&Q.

As I am going to the Thundersprint this weekend, (no electricity at the temporary camp site)I thought I would go and get one. I hired one last year which cost more than the ones in B&Q.

Anyway I have just tried it and it is well worth the money, it will actually run the hot water system which supprised me so a set of heated rollers for SWMBO will be no problem.

Although I won't be taking a TV/DVD I have just tried them out of interest and they all work fine.

Hello Graham,

Sometimes there is no alternative but to use a generator, but even the super silent ones do produce some noise, and they are very inefficient at producing the power you need. (Typically only 6 to 8% fuel to useable electricity) Also petrol is rather expensive.

For water heating, the fridge and space heating, using the gas system is much more efficient, and of course noise is not a problem. (Efficiency is minimum of 70%)

A well-charged battery should last you the weekend for lights hot air fans and water pumps.

I've got a cheap B&Q generator that I use on the rally field for the beloved's hair dryer (12 volt ones just arn't the same) and those important things in life like watching England play football (as required).

I've had mine for three years now and it is still going strong, very good value for money.
