Baby On Board? Car Signs.

Why do people display a Baby on Board car sign? Is it to let the emergency services know that they need to search for a baby in the car if there is an accident? If so, why is it that the cars drive around with the sign still displayed and no baby is in the car? This would waste the emergency services time at a scene of accident searching for a baby that wasn't there in the first place! Or is it to advise the other road users that they should drive carefully, not follow too closely etc? If that is the case, how come the mothers/fathers displaying these signs still drive like maniacs, speed on motorways, speed around on local roads etc? Why don't THEY drive carefully?

Just can't work out the point of these signs - any answers?

It could be a psydo sign which means 'I'm on the school run, I have a 4 x 4 and I can't park it properly, that's why I need to park it on the crossing outside the school'.

You see these too: http://www.copperboppers.com/xcart/product.php?productid=16537

Perhaps to warn the emergency services to search for escaped pets following an accident??

Seriously, I think it started in the States when a car crashed, and the no-one realised there had been a baby in the car until it was found many hours later in the undergrowth after being thrown from the car in the impact. I suppose as a proper warning they are fine, but left in the car when the baby is now six, or when there is no baby at all, is a bit stilly.

Frankly, I think it's just to tell the world that they are proud parents and for no rational purpose at all. How else would one another kind of sign that one also sees, such as "Suzie on Board" or "Jamie on Board"?

with one of my daughters, we were looking a sign that said

WARNING DANGEROUS CHILD ON BOARD

She was better than any watch dog!

But she's grown up and now she's an even bigger danger - watch out

In my opinion all they are signifying is that their sex life is OK and they are capable of reproducing. However the mind boggles at the sign "Little Monkey on board" - would not like to even fathom a guess what these people have been up to.

I had the missfortune to collect my Kerry from the vets , in the afternoon during the school collecting run, does a red haze, cloud the female drivers vision as they rush home to unload their offsprings, 30 mph goes out of the window.

I always feel sorry for the poor child that has no seat and is lying on/strapped to a board

I drive my wife who is 70 and has Parkinsons and her sister who is 80 and has dementia but have struggled to get a sign saying
