badly cracked fold up sink

Hi all,

My friend has managed to crack the fold up sink in her 1997 Abbey Jubilee Herald. I think the plastic has become brittle and it is cracked all the way round the tap, I believe they are expensive to replace and she does not want to spend a lot.

Any suggestions on how to do a repair job on it would be apreciated.

On a sink that old there is nothing which will repair it, a new unit is the only way forward or try and get one from a breakers.

That will not do, the sink is ingrained with soap residue and will have degraded, stopping any glues from adhering

I will let her know about the plastic repair stuff it might be woth a try, it can really look any worse and a new contessa sink is £195, but I saw a salvaged one on eBay for £30 which is not too bad, but is a lovely mid brown colour, there is a caravan surplus store ( more like a junk shop really) near us so will have a look in there. She might have to cave in and get a new one though.

There is a Caravan Breakers website, where you can fill in details of parts for old caravans, these are circulated to a number of caravan breakers, and anyone with the item you're looking for can contact you.
It worked for us with a particular part we needed - we had two replies and one was only about eighteen miles away!

Really would second the idea of looking at a Caravan breakers. Our friends who bought a 1980something van for a song have done a great job of replacing all sorts of bits for very little money from a breaker.
