Has anyone experienced problems with severe condensation in the 2007 Bailey Pageant Bretagne, 6 berth. We are arguing with our dealer as we are unable to use the fixed bunks at the rear of the caravan due to the excess condensation running down the walls and wetting the bedclothes and matresses. I would be interested to hear whether or not anyone else has experienced similar problems.

Hi,

does the van have anti-condesation boards fitted between the beds , settees and the outer walls. We have a 2005 Series 5 which did not have the boards fitted, buut this last New Year it suffered condensation. Bailey arranged to have them fitted under warranty. No further problems.

Hi Heather,

How many people are sleeping in your caravan? If you are sleeping with all the windows shut and no heat on, as the temperature drops you will get condensation. We do a lot of winter caravanning and never experience condensation even when the outside temp drops well below freezing. The secret is to allow warm air to circulate round your caravan. No matter what the outside temp is we always leave one side window at the front and one side window at the rear on the night catch and leave the heating on low all night. Also leave your sunroof on the night catch or fanlight slightly open.

If you go out in the daytime, unless it is a warm day, leave your heating on low. This will prevent cold damp air from building up in your caravan.

When people breath they give out a lot of damp air, if breath comes into contact with the cold sides of a caravan you will get condensation.

If you follow the above you will have warm comfortable nights without the dreaded condensation.

Heather,

We have a new Bialey Ranger 550/6 which is the same layout as the Bretagne and have found to have a similar problem to yours.

In the mornings I find that the walls around the two fixed bunks are wet if you rub your hand over them and the ceiling is driping condensation.

I would'nt say I am overly worried about this as we have only experienced this during the winter months when the heating has been on and with our two boys obviously asleep in the bunks, towards the end of last summer we did not have this.

If however on its first service in July they find excess damp in the rear of the van then it will be a different story....
