Hi guys, just trying to get best deal on my insurance. It's a baily pegasus. Have looked at their brochure and manuals online but can't find the answers to a few q's that will help me with insurance discounts...be great if any folks have the answers:

Does the van have a tilt and/or corner steady?

Is it work investing in a hitchlock? I think it's a 5% discount. If so what one?

Thanks in advance.

"Does the van have a tilt and/or corner steady?"

If you mean does it have a tilt or corner steady alarm then no it doesn't. The alarm fitted is p.i.r. intruder alarm only and does not qualify for the tilt sensor discount. You should get an additional discount for the Tracker recovery system though and also , depending on your insurance company, one for using the Alko wheel lock.

As for hitchlock, I have alko's own make which I find easy to use but personally I wouldn't bother buying another. I've read too many accounts of how hitchlocks are very easily removed by thieves with apparent minimum of effort.

Hi Rob,

I managed to track down the pegasus brochure online and it states

"An audible alarm will be triggered if the

caravan is towed, moved or lifted onto the

back of a trailer. The alarm will sound for five

minutes unless stopped by the user."

That suggests a tilt or movement alarm, but I don't want to take risk and ivalidate insurance in event of a disaster.

The link to the full doc is: http://www.bailey-caravans.co.uk/images/downloads/TRACKER%20-%20Caravan%20Insert.pdf

Any thoughts?

Hi Guy,

I have just been through the same process. I stated that the van does have a tilt alarm - It obviously does have if it can detect being moved!

I got a refund on my old van insurance due to all the security items!

i went through the process of finding out about this when I bought my current van (senator wyoming ) just over two years ago. I contacted both Bailey and Tracker both confirmed that the alarm did not have a tilt sensor.

If you have a search around on the Bailey forum at caravantalk you will also find there a posting from Kelly at Bailey customer service confirming this. They seemed to reckon that as the van has a Tracker Recovery fitted it does not need a tilt sensor.

Best of luck to anyone who gets an extra discount but I would hate to see them losing out in the event of a theft and their insurer decides they had been given incorrect info.

If I have time I will have a look at the caravantalk site and see if I can find the thread.

Found a link at least similar, if not the same, as the one I was referring to. If you have a look about 5 posts in you will see the reply from Kelly at Bailey.
The best of luck to anyone who gets a discount from their insurer but I would hate to hear of someone losing out in the event of a claim if their insure turns round and says they had been given incorrect info and insurance was therefore void.
