I was in the process of replacing the broken lights when i noticed that the wires feeding it are white and the other white and green.
The new ones have just a red and black wire.
Which colours do i connect together correctly?
Regards

Caravans are in a class of their own but typically in electrical work Black is negative.
You're sort of correct ......... maybe. In UK black is the standard colour for negative on a (non-grounded) DC system. It's also one of the live conductors on a 415v three phase installation. Prior to 2004 it was the neutral on AC circuits (still commonly found in older houses). It's rarely safe to assume the voltage of a conductor based on it's colour.

The negative on my caravan (2016 Lunar Venus) is white and orange, except for the battery to the first connector and battery to motor mover control panel where it's black. I have no idea what standard (if any) caravans are built to.

My 2000 Bailey Ranger used White for negative for caravan internal 12V wiring. Heavy gauge battery cable was red and black. Suspect that is only colors available in twin core heavy gauge cable suitable for battery cable.

MM wires would've been supplied with MM hence more standard red and black.

Old AC standard was Red phase, Black neutral, green earth. European standard changed that to Brown Phase, Blue neutral, green/yellow earth. Sensible change as red & black are preferred colors for DC wires.

Thanks for the replies this is an adhoc question to throw into the mix, will these lights work off the leisure battery or just mains?
They will work off one or the other depending whether you've bought 12v DC or 240v AC down lights. I've never come across light fittings that will work off both though they may exist. Because you have red and black wires there's a good chance that you've bought 12v DC lights but check the description/instructions to be on the safe side.
(If you connect them to the wrong supply voltage there's a very good chance that the smoke will escape and they'll never work again).

Thought I was suffering a severe case of deja vu, but no, you've started two different threads about your downlighters. 🤦‍♂️
If you decide to connect them to 240v to test them have a fire extinguisher close to hand when you do, you might need it.
