Hello all

New to caravans and looking at Ranger GT60 6 Berth. Are there significant improvements in moving up range to Bretagne or just "frills". Is it worth extra money? Also considered Charisma 565 but leaning toward Bailey. Any helpful advice gratefully received.

the pageant comes with atc and ominvent extractor over the gt60

however many people seem to be going for the gt60 because it has a nicer wood colour

Biggest advantage with the pageant is its on a wider bodyshell which makes it feel much more spacious. That coupled with the generally nicer fixtures & fittings makes it a better bet in my opinion. I'm biased tho cos I have one!!

The extra 4" width in the Pageant and the longer front lounge with a chest give more space and we prefer the wood in the Pageant as well.

The std ATC and the extractor are nice extras.

The clincher for us was the fact that we were able to get an 08 brand new Pageant S7 for

Thanks for all advice. I've also read other strings and now been in a bretagne, Gt and Swift Charisma 565. Decision made on Bretagne due to better finnish and not huge price difference when you think of it over 5 - 10 years. Now v excited about actually getting it.

Unfortunatly for us, we had to stick with the GT60 6 (SA) berth cos of the weight. Nice van, but small washroom particulary in the sitting position!!

Pageant S 7 is wider sure but also harder to put up narrow drives, ATC ok- but access flaps on bed lockers gone, no bottle holder, no clock , no spots round the Heki and a teak finish wood that with the silver edge doesnt look very up-market. GT60 has proved a very successful range and now outsells most Pageants. If you want to go better - up to the Seantor for the extra dosh its a better van with more spec-but hey if you like teak effect 70's wood and missing bits from Series 6 then why not-bet a Series 8 will be with us soon!

Think GT60 will be easier to sell-I have a 500/5 and sure I miss the loo size in my S 5 Champagne but I dont live in there!

Having had various Baileys over the years I cannot help but feel that as each new model comes out the build quality goes down and the finish gets cheaper. The Swift is better put together and if you want a modern interior go and look at next years Europa or the cheaper new Sprite range before you decide.

Along with peter, i find the latest bailey offering a huge let down. The slab effect cupboards look depressing. With high hopes i looked at the pegasus site last night, again this new wonderful caravan had the same cupboard doors?

I have a 2004 senator vermont, and am currently on the look out for a new van, not bothered which make with the exception of coachman. But i am finding some really poor products on sale.

I am not convinced by these one of models either, changing a brand name does nothing to hold up second hand values.

Everyone knows the 3 main bailey groups, ranger, pageant, senator.

But in a few years will the GT60 exist?

Look how nissan keep prating about with the xtrail model names, i have one and couldn't tell you the spec of the latest range, its just change for changing sake?

Work out what you want from a caravan, what kind of layout suits your purposes for example. It's a personal thing, you pick a van to suit your needs and tastes. One mans meat, is another mans poison thing.

The omnivent for example we use a lot especially in winter in our S6 Burgundy but obviously that's a minor issue. We've counted 20 lights in ours, but haven't used all of them so see what features you think you'll really need.

When you've decided what you want go and look at the vans and get a feel for them, have a mooch round them, sit in them and see how you feel in that environment. Whether you like the light GT60 or slightly darker Bretagne is up to you. Whether the slightly wider P7 Bretagne is worth having over the GT60 is up to you. Remember you'll be using it so take your time and weigh it all up. Ask people by all means but work out what You really want.

Before finalising on a triple bunk look at the coachman amara570 take on the same layout, no need for a child on the floor and generally more headroom to the bunks also much better build quality than the bailey of swift, ok a bit of price and weight issue but ask yourself why.

Much better build than a bailey or swift, well bailey and swift, use external stainless steel screws, in 2004 Coachman DID NOT.

Have they started using them?

Martin24, I am confused, how can the Coachman not have the bunk on the floor yet also have more headroom??
