Why would Michael Jordans take out halogen bulbs and refit halogen bulbs?A 10w Halogen bulb will use 1 amp an hour which is pretty high.

Judging by the comments on Forums people would like to see at least 1 12v socket in the van so you can charge a phone etc.

I suppose if you want that little bit extra you have to pay for it.

O.K

I,ve gone and done it!

Went to my previous dealer where I purchased my Bailey Burgundy S6 and had a look and a natter and got a price to change which I was happy with,so to-day deposit paid and delivery date of mid June which fits like a dream with our outings. Had a look where a 12v supply goes and they are still using Clipsel units so matching won't be a problem. It's just that silly aperture above the fire that need's sorting. If Simon the marketing Director at Bailey is reading can you pull my California to one side and fit a drawer or hinged front looking drawer door so we can put a cutlery tray in there as the one in the sliding tray compartment is pretty useless with only 3 compartments. The Burgundy has four. 1 x Knives 2x Forks, 3 x tea spoons and 4 x desert/cereal/ serving spoons.

Just an idea

Collected our California last weekend and must say so far we are over the moon with it. Only spent the one night in it so far, but will give it a proper road test this B/H weekend. We had a fixed bed layout on one of our previous vans then went and swapped it for a Arizona a couple of years ago, so once again no bed making! One scary moment on the way back from chipping sodbury caravans on the A42 just before it joins the M1, there was a group of kids on one of the footbridges, and just as we approached them dropped a stone from the bridge, believe me pure panic set in as there is nothing you can do to avoid the situation. On our arrival home all seemed well, that is until closer inspection on the roof of the caravan, yes they hit there target and we have a nice big dent up on top, luckily where no on can see it and I suppose we got of lightly. I shudder to think what might have happened had the stone hit the windscreen! What is wrong with some of the kids today? There bit of fun could have cost someone there life.

Have a good bank holiday and safe towing.

Perhaps you should have researched that the caravan met your requirements before you bought it?

I am aware that bailey seem to think a proper sink is no longer required. A clip on drainer what a joke.

Style over function does not work for me, my next van will have a proper sink/drainer, as my 2004 senator has.

Also who wants a remote van alarm? just another fob to carry around.

Yes we did do our reserch, and the Arizona suited us well at the time, but two years on and the california suits our needs, watch this space in two years time and see what fits our bill then! As for the alarm,if you dont want an extra fob dont use it! the Arizona had a key pad alarm and in the two years we had it we never used the alarm, also the same van had a clip on drainer and that worked fine for us, certain things about the Arizona we did not like, and no doubt the same will apply to the California, it`s all about compromise.

Hi Ray

The California does meet our requirements .The layout is perfect tows like a dream same as our Wyoming only more compact.Ideal now we not reliant on our thirsty 4x4 .The problems we had have all been overcome to our satisfaction some by Baily some on my own back but now van as it should be.No matter how well you reserch you dont find any mention of bad finish on woodwork now corrected ,lack of 12volt plugs now corrected ,sink board now corrected, the only other thing was the awning rail opening at the front but borrowed a tool from my local dealer now that is corrected. So now happy with van yes i missed the 12volt plug but at the time i wasnt looking for the obvious.

Hi Allan&Gill

What ever is wrong with these morons i can understand your anguish but fortunately it was no worse. We have been away just the once in our California and found everything ok after the other probs we found which have all been sorted. One thing we did find the bed a bit hard so got a foam topper but yet to try it certainly looks inviting.

We have had the front chest of draws inplace of the all around seating ,and tyrons fitted,.

Hope you enjoy the comeing weekend we off weekend after on a C/C rally let us know how you get on.

Thanks for the info Billy, like you we have also had the set of drawers up front (Bailey must be making a killing on this one!) and must say that I am pleasantly pleased with the finish on our California, compared with the Arizona which left a lot to be desired, was you supplied with the cushions for the front? Re the 12 volt, that is not a problem as we no longer rally these days, and hwmbo insists on electric hook up! Criticisms so far have been, low level boiler controls, placement of the reading lights in the bedroom, one to the left and the other to the middle over the bed, and we feel subtle pelmet lighting like in the lounge would have been very welcome, and although a 12V socket is not a big gripe it would have been useful in the cupboard where the radio is, so we could plug the ipod in to charge it whilst in use, but that's a job I will rectify myself in the near future. Motor mover now re fitted and a maxview crank up dish up on the roof the same as we had with the Arizona, so it's all systems go for the weekend, just need some sun now!

Hi Allan&Gill

No we did not get cushions in front asked but told not supplied we then kept the Wyoming ones but didnt look right so in QD a local discount store bought 4 beige ones whick look ok.

Plug in radio cupboard a piece of cake.

The finish i did not like was at the front right side where alarm pir fitted see cut marks at bottom and on left side same panel.Got Kelly Watts to send me some half round beading like between the cupboards 2 pieces about a foot long a piece of plastic has to be trimed off easy with stanley knife some double sided tape and job done.Looks so much better and same colour. We getting on a bit but still enjoy rallying there is several of us go to same rallys so allways someone you know.No lights could have been better tv i find is excellent .Enjoy your weekend will be interested to know how you get on.

Happy vanning

Hi Billy, when I referred to the cushions I meant the upholstery (seating) where the draws now sit, and not the scatter cushions that Bailey do not supply with the California for some strange reason.

Hi,

As I am taking delivery of one of these sometime in June, what are the niggles, snags and problems, so I can check it(them) out.O.K I am aware of the lack of 12v sockets and cushions, but inside info from user's always helps.

Well after almost 40yrs of vaning I think we have found our almost perfect van in the california.

Von Ryan, touch wood we can find no problems with our new van, niggles, Gill would have liked an extra 13amp socket in the kitchen, other than that nothing to complain about.

Billy, have had a look around the PIR you mentioned, and we have no gaps around it, as for the awning rail we have openings at both front and rear, and on the offside as well. Must admit that the build quality and finish is far superior to the Arizona that we traded in, it was that poor that it went back to the factory twice to be remedied, but full credit to Bailey there service was second to none with even collecting the van from home, and delivering it back after the work had been completed. With that kind of service that is why we have returned to the brand again. We have now spent four nights in the van and we really cant fault it, and we feel sure we will keep this longer than the Arizona (two years) and we cant wait to go out in it again, just thought of one small niggle and that is with the manual change over valves for the onboard tank, would have thought by now they would have upgraded these with electric solenoid ones, that will get a modification from me by using an external pump to fill the onboard tank. So how has things been with your California? And did you have an enjoyable Bank holiday.

"we feel subtle pelmet lighting like in the lounge would have been very welcome"

We bought the translucent quadrant and strip LED's and added them to the bedroom of our Indiana, much nicer, also swapped the spots over the bed for some semi recessed lights with LED bulbs as kept hitting the light with glass of wine.

Hi Deli Dave. I like to know where you got the lighting quadrant and LEDs from, please. We have a Burgundy that needs a bit of lighting attention.

Hi Allen and Gill,

Thanks for the constuctive feed back, We have a S6 Burgundy and it's been great, but the full width washroom sold it for us both. We are about to think what we need to add to the California and the only current things we can think of is a drawer over the heater and possibly racking in the shower? We have only seen proto types so there fore might be pleasently supprised???????

Many thanks again and please keep the info coming every one.

Ordered it through dealer,Golden Castle but any Bailey dealer should be able to do it for you

Thanks Dave. I'll see if I can get one for inside the front window. There's a quadrant but no LEDs inside. That should keep the reflections off the Scrabble board!

Hi Allan&Gill

Realy pleased to hear you are happy with van,we are off on thursday caravan club rally in Weeley Essex ,our only trip out went without a hitch about 3 weeks ago.

Realy looking forward to getting away again to try our mattress topper as i found bed a bit hard got bad hips anyway so it didnt help. Our awning rail on offside was fine opening both ends but nearside which you use only at the back.

Idid send a list to Kelly Watts at Bailey which i agree are the best company for customer care so maybe they put things right hope i did some good but all mine sorted one way or another. As for the inboard tank we use it straight from the aqu roll so dont have a prob with that will let you know next week if we find any problems. One thing i did do was the tv mount put 2 spaces made of rubber on right side behind mount to offset so points more to middle of room makes watching easier from offside bunk.
