Hi everyone

I hate asking, but on my phone I do not seem to have the forum search working. So apologies as I am sure this will have been covered.

I urgently need to know the drum size fitted to a 2009 Bailey Senator 6 California. I had a wheel fly off on Friday and the recovery people found the threads gone on both drums.

To order I am told I need the drums width INSIDE as well as the brake shoe width. Typical size would be say 200 mm and 51mm. But obviously I need to be sure.

ANY help very, very much appreciated. This was a scary experience and made much worse by the AA leaving us there for 14 hours, which is another thread for another day.

Many thanks
James

Try putting your phone to landscape. Mine doesn’t work in portrait mode. Sorry to hear of the wheel detachment. Have you tried Baileys sales site Prima, they may stock replacements suitable for your caravan.

Taking the drum off the other side and measuring it would be my solution.
Yes, I should have said. I no longer have access to your the other side until the caravan is moved from where the recovery people put it. Once the near side is changed/fixed. I will then move it and do the other side.

Thanks anyway.

With luck there will be be a ref number on the axle. From this Alko should be ably to identify your needs.

Also, you should find a number cast onto the drum. This can be used to identify it. But be sure to get the UK version as the European ones are machined for larger diameter wheel bolts.

If you don’t have access at the moment try phoning Alko UK

Thanks John. But as previously posted, I don’t have access to the other side. I also cannot get to the axle as I am disabled and simply cannot get to it even if I wanted to. And as previously posted also, I cannot remove a wheel to get information from the drum without the risk of the wheel bolt not going back on rendering the caravan immovable.

Can you get a local ( to wherever the van is) mobile technician to go and look it and advise you what you need?

That is a good idea.

But I was hoping someone on here may have changed one and know this size.

I very much appreciate all the early responses thus far. What a great forum. I came to the right place clearly.

If I remember correctly it had 25050 or something like that on the casting,in real measurements that's 10"(drum size) 2""(shoe width) hence the 25050? MM

There will be a casting number 6 numbers

605121, 1366103, 583928, and 638624. These numbers can be found on the brake drum itself and are used to identify the specific drum type for replacement purposes.

Love the user name!

The general consensus seems to be 2050 or 2051. That represents 200 mm internal width of drum and 50mm or 51mm width of shoes.

Looks as though I’ll have to get the drum off and see what is what. I was just hoping anyone on here with a similar caravan could tell me if they did the job. Which I do recommend as it seems I am far from the first person to lose a wheel from a moving caravan.
