Bailey Senator Range The Truth

According to Bailey at the Caravan show they are continuing to offer the current Senator range and yet three dealers in this area are saying Bailey are stopping the manufacture of them in week 46 or 48. Can someone give us the truth.

If this is true it would mean anyone who purchased a new Senator California which was introduced only in March this year now has an obsolute model, perhaps Bailey would like to comment on this. On dealer went as far as saying Bailey are keeping quiet on this in order to clear existing Senator stock.

I had heard that the Senator range was being dropped and the Pegasus was taking its place as there top end caravan.

I had a good look at the Pegasus at the show and i think Bailey will be making a big mistake if they do.

We have had our last 4 vans made obsolete

We had a Cleremont and they ceased trading, an Ace Jubilee Statesman and they discontinued it,a Senator Olkahoma and it was dropped and an Ace Award Nightstar and the Nightstar was dropped and then the Ace brand

We now have a Senator California on order and that may be dropped

We like the van and will carry on with the order and it will probably be the lsat van and one we keep

Obsolete is relative.

Seems to me most manufacturers change their models with almost biannual regularity.

I don't want to change every two years.

Like John, we like our Wyoming and intend keeping it another 4 / 5 years if not longer.

We have a very good dealer who quickly fixes anything that breaks.

Remember the Bailey Pageant S6 Vendee (Back to front). It didn't sell well so out comes the S7 etc.

Do car makers change models so often?

Bailey tend to change models less often than other makers and use the series method rather than annual changes

We were told February for a Senator delivery at one dealer and stocks don't seem that high so some stories seem far fetched

I was under the impression that Bailey built to dealer orders and when we had the Oklahoma 4 years ago it was almost 6 months from ordering to delivery

It was so new that the copper pipe underneath were very shiny and you felt that the paint was only just dried!!

ours is now obsolete at 2 years old but no sign of affecting trade value etc.. However one less Bailey range must be a good thing

It seems an odd decision if it happens to delete the top of the range Senators in favour of the Pegasus with less appealing trim etc

If I was a gambling man I'd say the Pegasus 626 is the replacement for the Wyoming S6.

I am convinced that Bailey will soon drop the Senator range once a certain number of Pegasus sales are confirmed. I read somewhere, can't remember where, that as new Bailey models come on line it is their intention to build them the Alu-Tec way as the Pegasus.

I don't think Bailey will increase the price of the Senators or it will affect the second hand values very much.

When Swift dropped the Bessacar range, due to the fact that Bessacars were not built in large numbers, for a time they held their prices pretty well. I have not checked the comparable specs in detail between the Senator and the Pegasus but from what i have read there seems little difference.

The problem for dealers when Swift dropped the Bessacar was that Swift increased the spec of the Conqueror.For example Swift immediatly put the Alde Wet Central heating in the twin axle Conquerors, and they cost less than their equivalent Bessacars which were left on dealers forecourts.

It will be interesting to see, if the Alu-Tec build method takes off, how soon other manufacturers will follow.

With the Alu-Tec system it is important that the caravan, from what i gather,is serviced at a Bailey approved Alu-Tec service centre. Evidently this is because the nuts and bolts which hold it together have to be torqued to a set level at certain service intervals. the internal capping, i suspect, will have to be removed to do this. The service to do this is not going to be cheap, but must be done to keep the warranty and the caravan watertight.

I certainly would not like to buy a second hand one without a full service history from a dealer, like my own, that i trust.

Perhaps Bailey would like to comment on these points.
