Bainland counrty park or Kelling heath?

Hi folks just about to book holiday for the summer and was

thinking of going to Bainland country park in Linconshire or

Kelling heath in North Norfolk.Has any one been to either of

them, any comments ? Many thanks Mark

Mark,

Been to both - Kelling Heath has more space for walking and cycling though I felt the indoor pool was a bit pricey. Cromer (seaside) and Norwich (shops) close to hand. Horses for courses but I would by preference return to Kelling.

Stayed at kelling a couple of years ago and whilst it had all the attractions the shower / toilet blocks were constantly abused by the small minority. One family escorted off by security 'cause of their children apparently. there are a lot of children on site and ours enjoyed themselves immensely, but not upto CC standards.

Haven't stayed at Bainland but had much better vibes about the whole place when we visited

Hi Mark, we live about 50 miles away from Bainland and use it a lot for weekends and out of season breaks. In our opinion the facilities are excellent and the site is well run. The site is very popular with children at weekends and during school holidays. Very nice bar / restaurant on site with kids entertainment at night. Toilets etc up to cc standards and the pitches are well spaced. Havnt stayed at Kelling though.

I have been to both. Kellingh Heath was too big for us and much to busy. The toilets where not kept clean, which is a shame because one block was new.

I would choose Bainland for ourselves. A lot smaller and quieter depends on what you want. There are fab cycle routes around Bainland through woodland and quiet country lanes.

The City of Lincoln is close by. There are many other market towns such as Louth. A trip to East Kirby to see the lancaster is a must, you will see the Red Arrows Practicing their routine too. The lincolnshire coast is not far away. There are some lovely villages in the wolds.

Hi Mark,

Went to kelling Heath last year, large site with good walks etc.Beware if you do go and it rains the roads between the pitches are axle deep in mud. They got so bad that a trailer tent pitched near us, decided that he should pinch a part of our pitch! because the mud was encroaching up to his pitch.

The disabled toilets were blocked and it was a few hours before they were sorted.

Hence we are not going to Kelling again and will stick to CC sites.

Regards,

Nidge

Stayed at Bainland and have recce'd Kelling Heath. The big plus for Bainland is the superb pitches. Block paved, water, drainage and electric hook-ups plus your own chemical toilet disposal point.

Lovely swimming pool (free I think) shop on site, about 20 miles from the coast at Skeggie. Not in such an exposed location as KH which faces due north with nothing between it and the Arctic. KH pitches more randomly positioned than Bainland but if it was me, I'd chose Bainland.
