"By the lake Camping pitch
image_resized.aspx

The by the lake camping pitches of San Francesco Camping Village are very close to the beach (first and second row). Most of them are shady and the toilet facilities are easy to reach. Electricity (6 ampere) is supplied. European plugs are necessary. The pitch is 8x12 metres in size and suitable for large (over 7 metres) caravans and campers. We recommend you to contact the booking office to book the camping pitch most suitable to your needs"

We have stayed at Bella Italia which is nearby, although originally we were thinking about San Francesco but were put off by the smaller pitches.

I went Two or three years ago, a very nice site, excellent toilet facilities, good restaruant and take away, but some of the pitches were on the small side. I have a Challenger 530, not the biggest van in the world, but it was a tight squeeze to get the van & the car on the pitch. It was also very busy despite the fact it was the second week in September by the time we got there.

We last stopped at San Francesco in 2008. It is a very good site and the pitches are good but some are very difficult to get too. As we were paying by Camping Cheques you are limited to where you can go. Having an 8 metre van those pitches are too small for us, so we elected to pay a couple of Euro's more and go up to the next bracket. If you look on my website you will see the photo's taken on site that year. We had a wonderful view but to get to the pitch was a nightmare. There is a white tubular fence all along the front of the area with a gate way as soon as you get to the area just over a small bridge. It was impossible for us to negotiate this gateway being too narrow and the road too narrow due to the bridge construction. So in the end we had to go right along the front , turn up the first road and then right onto the area. Then we had to travel right from left to right and back to front over loads of pitches to get to the front row. This route was explained to us by a Dutch couple parked in the same area.for which we were most grateful. We could not fault the site Toilets, Showers, Laundry and Restaurant excellent. Staff at the Reception most helpful. Would think it would be more difficult to pitch, with a large outfit, in the high season, The first time we visited this site in 2004 we had Amara 520 and they then took ACSI Camping Card you were limited to pitches with that but still had a good one but not on the front.
Hope this helps. ..

Actually. We also have a long caravan, when travelling to continental sites we always email or call the sites and tell them in advance of the size and ask for a good sized pitch and good access if possible. 'touch wood' we've never been let down, one Castels site with access problems took our caravan from reception with a tractor to negotiate the hill of the terraced site.
As Chris said, always check out site web sites if they give a pitch size eplain before arrival what you need. Google satellite views can often show a site layout clearly and it's always worth a look.
