Going to Glororum site in September,looking for stop off about half way between Wetherby and Scotch Corner.Anyone got any ideas,don’t have to be service station,can be decent laybye off main A1

There are no laybys there as the A1 has been converted to motorway A1(M) so no stopping - Wetherby Services has good provision for caravan parking but can get very busy - Scotch Corner Services involves doubling back quite a long way on local roads, it has a few caravan spaces but usually full of cars and vans

There is Exelby Services just off right at junc 52, or the old Leeming Bar services about ¾miles south on the A6055 which is a double back left at the bottom of the exit sliproad. McD on site and usually plenty of parking space.

There is also a long stopping place if you exit at Scotch Corner then take the road (A1/A6055) as if you are going back onto the A1(M) - the third exit off the Scotch Corner island.
