Banged up the Boot!

Hi, can anyone help me to find out what is making my van bang us up the boot when we brake? The damper on the tow hitch is apparently set to the right tension but when we brake, unless it's very gentle, it feels like the van knocks the back of the car.

Our van is a 1992 Eccles Diamond, bought from White Arches, Rushden. It was checked and serviced before we collected it and has also been repaired after a slight colission. Both White Arches and Bucks Camping checked the damper and said it's OK.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Paul

Paul,

Do you get a similar sound when you pull away? That is do you think the tow coupling is damaged?

Have you checked the tow bar mounting bolts and checked that nothing has come loose? Inside the boot as well?

Have you checked that the brakes are working properly - they may need adjusting to operate a bit sooner.

Had the same thing on my van. Took it back to dealer, problem was brakes needed adjustment which has now sorted it. I would add the van is only 5 months old. Hope this helps
