Hi Andrea,

I am going to Bank Farm at Easter. I often visit Bank Farm as it is only 35 mins down the road for us. The toilet and shower block are very clean and the staff are very friendly there. Lovely views as well. You can walk to Port Eynon beach but there is a very steep hill to come back up. Everything there you will need including clubhouse. Lovely farm nearby as well where you can pick your own strawberries.

I haven't heard of any poor site on the Gower. It all depends on what you are looking for. Very few sites on the Gower are "hi-de-hi" with club entertainment, etc. The only site I can think of for club house, etc. is on north Gower at Llanrhidian near Penclawdd. The majority of sites are generally more quiet and relaxing. As stated Port Eynon is a lovely part of the Gower and has a beautiful unspoilt beach.

If you are looking for night life on the site or close at hand you will have to either go east to Mumbles, Swansea or Porthcawl or west to Tenby or Saundersfoot. Gower is for the quiet relaxing break.

We went to the Gower last August for a fortnight. It was a fantastic place, but is very quiet and is definitely for a relaxing holiday. We stayed on a lovely CL at Nicholaston with tremendous views of Oxwich Bay. The beaches were great, and the surfing, swimming etc was enjoyed by all. Would definitely return to the area. We also cycled a great deal but the roads are very busy and its best to drive to the cycle routes and park up rather than ride direct. We also ate out every night and found the pubs and cafes reasonable. We had a drive to Port Eynon and wasn't impressed, but it was a bit of a bleak, wet and windy day, so not the best time to go.

Bank Farm is set on top of the hill overlooking Port Eynon, the park does have a clubhouse, but is a clean and tidy site. The road from swansea does get narrow at some points. As you like surfing you are going to the right place best beaches for surfing include Llangenith (the best but can get quite busy) take food and drink because nothing there except a catering van at peak periods. Rhossili easiest to get to from Bank Farm has a long beach, some pubs and shops. You can visit the Castles at Oxwich and Weobly. Parkmill has excellent visiting centre with craft shop and pottery. While there take a trip to Pembrey Country Park near Llanelli where you can spend the whole day at the beach or try it's many other attractions inc dry ski slope, minature train, pitch and put etc.It is also an excellent area for cycling if you bring your own or hire at the country park as it has the millenium coastal path. Swansea of course has everything a city has to offer.

On a fine day Pembrey Country Park cannot be beaten. It is a park which has not been commercialised and has a fantastic beach. There is a cafe with toilet facilities on the park and that is all apart from the few amenities as mentioned by Darrell. The cycling through to Burry Port along the coast is very pleasant. There is a CC site just outside the park. Be carefull of the tides at both Llangennech and Rhosilli as they can change very quick.

stayed there a few years back, as someone already said it all depends what your expectations are. It's not up to the high standards of say a CC site but it's perfectly acceptable. We went to the Gower again the following year but stayed at the site on the beach at Port Eynon by the car park, mainly to avoid the steep walk down to the beach. Our kids had a great time there. Port Eynon gets quite busy at weekends but quietens down in the week. If you want a 'Haven'ish' type holiday then the Gower is probably not the sort of place you want to go, but if you're after a 'get away from it all' relaxing break walking / surfing / bathing etc then it should fit the bill.
