Possible solution. Each tap has a 12v micro-switch in its base. When the tap handle is turned, the micro-switch is turned on which in turn, controls the pump. Looks like the micro-switch on the bathroom tap has stopped working. When you turn the handle the 'valve' opens but the pump isn't activated. By turning on the sink tap you switch on the pump (using the sink's micro-switch) and because the 'valve' is open on the bathroom tap, water flows. The micro-switches are readily available from accessory shops and are quite easy to replace.

Am I best to remove the tap and take it with me?

to ensure I get the correct part? I assume I just unscrew from the sink

thanks

In case you haven't already then it's best you do exactly that Hellen, since these switches are at the base of the tap and your van is quite an old one you'd want to be sure you get the right micro-switch, there's a fair amount of variety when it comes to these type of bathroom options.
